Job Title:  Deputy Director, Personnel & Membership Actions

The Deputy Director, Personnel & Membership, will assist in managing member services and personnel actions, including overseeing a personnel database system and customer service for approximately 60,000 members. Assists the Director in working with IT personnel and other directorates to evaluate and automate business processes. Monitors effectiveness of current systems and processes; identifies operation and management problems and resolves technical issues related to systems processing. Help to manage and maintain all publications in the CAP Personnel series and assist in revising publications and forms. Assist in managing national committees/appointments, cadet and professional development registrar functions, testing control, awards, promotions, terminations, adverse actions, retirements, unit charters, counterdrug screening/training, and membership screening.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree desired with at least six years of customer service, professional marketing, or advertising management experience. 

  • Must have experience with a membership database system. A BS in Marketing, Public Relations, Communications, or another closely-related field from an institution accredited by an agency recognized by the US Department of Education is preferred. 

  • Must have supervisory experience. 

  • Knowledge of Civil Air Patrol personnel policies is required. 

  • Extensive working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Publisher, Outlook, and Content Management Solution software (Siteviz, etc.) to implement website design features is required. Must have exceptional editing skills; strong interpersonal skills; and the ability to communicate persuasively, both orally and in writing, with managers, staff, and the public. 

  • Must handle sensitive situations and deal with various personnel at all levels.
