The Director of Aviation Logistics Management leads a specialized team responsible for managing and executing logistics and aviation support for ~600 aircraft geographically distributed across all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands to support Civil Air Patrol (CAP) and the nearly 68,000 volunteers. This professional advises on policy and procedures for aircraft fleet management and maintenance and ensures compliance with Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) guidance, directives, and policies, as well as all applicable federal regulations. This role provides overall aircraft fleet program management by defining objectives and establishing priorities and deadlines to manage aircraft acquisition, distribution, maintenance, and disposition of a diversified fleet consisting of Cessna, Gippsland, Maule, Schweizer, Blanik, Linstrand, and Firefly aircraft. This position oversees CAP’s contract aircraft maintenance program and exercises oversight of more than $21 million in annual spending on aircraft procurement, maintenance, parts, and repairs. This position also oversees daily activities of CAP headquarters aircraft maintenance coordinators, parts specialists, and other aircraft support personnel. The director is ultimately responsible for working and coordinating with third-party vendors, service providers, and strategic partners to develop the most agile and resilient aviation logistics system to ensure the long-term success of the corporation.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL POSSESS:

Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or Management required with Aviation Management/Maintenance preferred; Master’s degree preferred.

Senior-level experience in aviation management and maintenance operations.

Strong understanding of aircraft maintenance, asset management, and contracting processes.

Experience managing geographically dispersed and remote teams.

Federal Grants, FAA, and Code of Federal Regulation (CFR) compliance experience highly desired.

Excellent communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex ideas clearly and persuasively to a broad scope of audiences.

Strong analytical skills, with the ability to synthesize quantitative and qualitative data from various sources and generate insights and recommendations.

High-level interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with people at all levels of the organization and across a range of different backgrounds, perspectives, and lived experiences.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Supervises a team of paid and volunteer staff members responsible for providing logistics capabilities to support CAP’s strategic goals and initiatives in alignment with the mission, vision, and core values.

Provides leadership to the Aviation Logistics team; empowers staff and manages performance, activities, and priorities while fostering an environment of collaboration, innovation, and excellence.
