About Us

Civil Air Patrol (CAP) is comprised of over 58,371 adult and cadet volunteers in career fields as diverse as mechanics, doctors, plumbers, executives, teachers, and retirees.  CAP members embody our core values of integrity, volunteerism, excellence, and respect.  Diversity and inclusion are important to CAP and go hand-in-hand with our core values.

We are your neighbors, your co-workers, and we are patriots volunteering our time and resources to support America's communities with emergency response, diverse aviation and ground services, youth development, and air, space, and cyber power promotion.

Civil Air Patrol is in a unique position of being both a 501(c)(3) nonprofit charity and the Air Force Auxiliary.  We are a Total Force Partner along with the Air Force, the Air Force Reserve, and the Air National Guard.

We are the only nonprofit in the United States that combines search and rescue, youth character and leadership development, and aerospace and cyber education while advancing the preservation and extension of America's patriotism and values.  95% of our cadets feel it's essential for them to serve our Country.

Today, our 24,098 cadet members and 34,273 adult members serve with passion in 52 CAP Wings throughout the nation, including all 50 States, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
