Job Summary:
The sUAS Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of small unmanned aerial systems operations, including mission support, training, management, and coordination functions. This role ensures the mission readiness of personnel and equipment, as well as the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of sUAS across Civil Air Patrol (CAP).
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Provides oversight of several volunteer positions assigned to support sUAS operations.
Duties/Responsibilities/Essential Functions:
Mission Support:

Ensure adequate planning, coordinating, and executing of sUAS missions in accordance with organizational objectives and regulatory requirements.

Ensure all sUAS operations are conducted safely and efficiently.
Training and Development:

Coordinate with the Training Program Manager to develop and implement comprehensive training programs for sUAS operators.

Conduct regular training sessions and evaluations to ensure mission personnel are proficient and up to date with the latest procedures and technologies.
sUAS Management:

Coordinates with Logistics and Missions Resources on the maintenance, repair, and inventory of sUAS equipment.

Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and standards, including FAA guidelines.

Develop and maintain guidance for sUAS operations.
Compliance and Safety:

Monitor compliance with all safety protocols and regulatory requirements.

Conduct regular safety audits and risk assessments.

Investigate and report any incidents or accidents involving sUAS.
Operational Efficiency:

Identify and implement process improvements to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of sUAS operations.

Collaborate with other departments to integrate sUAS capabilities into broader organizational initiatives.
Job Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in aviation, engineering, or a related field.

Minimum of three years of experience in sUAS operations or a related field.

Strong knowledge of sUAS technology, regulations, and best practices.

Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications:
-
Experience in mission planning and execution.

Advanced certifications or training in sUAS operations.
