Job Title:  Deputy Chief of Philanthropy and National Partnerships

The Deputy Chief of Philanthropy and National Partnerships is a newly created position and will serve in a significant role in Civil Air Patrol and Civil Air Patrol Foundation philanthropy efforts. Responsibilities include providing strategic thought partnership and support to the Chief of Philanthropy in strengthening fundraising efforts. This position will have a primary focus in creating and developing strategies to establish, cultivate and provide overall leadership and management of gifts from institutions to support budget and strategic planning priorities; leadership of organizational partnerships; responsibility for managing the national grants program and serving as a supervisor to the National Staff grants team; and supporting efforts in other areas of philanthropy including individual, planned, major, and annual giving efforts.  Opportunity to work with a high functioning and passionate team. The Deputy Chief of Philanthropy and National Partnerships reports to the Chief of Philanthropy.



  • Bachelor’s degree and/or five (5) years of proven results in securing national/local corporate sponsorships/contributions and new business development. Relevant fundraising experience from corporations and foundations and grant writing skills a plus

  • Has a working knowledge of current best practices in all aspects of fundraising

  • CFRE preferred

  • Proven ability to exercise good and independent judgment, consistent follow-through, plan and act strategically, tactfully and creatively

  • Successful team collaboration and ability to engage and motivate others to action

  • Excellent interpersonal skills in working with corporate partners, sponsors, vendors, donors, colleagues, volunteers and general public

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite required; understanding of moves management and CRM also highly desired.

  • Due to the nature of the organization being volunteer driven, ability to work flexible and changing schedules, including evenings and weekends as needed
