Chief Operating Officer

Christopher Plamp

Christopher Plamp serves as Chief Operating Officer of Civil Air Patrol, the U.S. Air Force Auxiliary. In this role, he oversees the organization’s day-to-day operations and supports the execution of Civil Air Patrol’s missions of emergency services, cadet programs, and aerospace education.

Over the past 12 years, Christopher has led operations, programs, strategy, and organizational growth for national nonprofit organizations supporting service members, veterans, and their families. Prior to joining Civil Air Patrol, he served as Chief Operating Officer of the USO and previously as Chief Executive Officer of Hire Heroes USA.

Christopher retired from the United States Air Force as a Colonel after more than 25 years of service. A Command Pilot, he flew the A-10 Thunderbolt II and served as an Air Liaison Officer and Joint Terminal Attack Controller. His assignments included service with conventional and special operations forces, including the Joint Special Operations Command. He deployed in support of Operations Southern Watch, Enduring Freedom, and Iraqi Freedom.

Christopher holds a Master of Military Art and Science degree from the Army Command and General Staff College, a Master of Strategic Studies degree from the Air War College, and a Bachelor of Science degree from the United States Air Force Academy.
