Chaplain Colonel John Murdoch, Chief of the Chaplain Corps
Murdoch is serving as chief of the CAP Chaplain Corps for the second time, having accepted the position in August 2019 after previously filling the role from 1996-1998. In the interim, he served as deputy chief of chaplains at the national level and as Indiana Wing chaplain.
He has also served as a chaplain with the Indiana State Police, the Howard County (Indiana) Sheriff’s Department, the U.S. Service Command and the International Association of Evangelical Chaplains. Before serving as director of chaplaincy ministries with the Regular Baptist Chaplaincy Ministries, a position from which he retired in 2016, he was pastor of Baptist churches in Peru, Indiana, and Philadelphia.
He holds CAP ratings as an Aircrew Member, Chaplain Support Specialist (Disaster Support Rating) and Mission Chaplain (Disaster Support Rating) and in General Emergency Services and Skills Evaluator Training.
