Wreaths Across America is a very moving way to honor those who have served, and it is also a very effective unit-level fundraising activity. Please visit the Wreaths Across America website for more information.

COVID-19 Information Provided from Wreaths Across America
Can sponsorship groups continue to fundraise if they aren’t sure if wreaths will be placed in December for the location they support?

ABSOLUTELY! We encourage all sponsorship groups to continue to fundraise because most locations will be placing wreaths in some capacity. If for some reason wreaths are unable to be placed safely due to COVID-19, the wreaths will be rolled over to the next year. If you are a $5 back group, you will continue to receive your payback checks within 30-45 days of orders being submitted.

Groups can also reach out to the Location Coordinator for specifics regarding participation for the wreath laying in 2020. If you are unsure who that contact is, please reach out to your WAA Regional Liaison for assistance. (CAP Note: Make sure you are in compliance with Wing re-mobilization plans by contacting your Wing Commander.)

Can our group fundraise if we aren’t able to meet in person?
YES! Many of our sponsorship groups have been hosting successful virtual fundraising events. One that could be a great fit for Civil Air Patrol Squadrons is the Virtual Group Challenge. This is where a CAP member posts a short video or picture on social media telling people why they are involved with Wreaths Across America and asking for sponsorships. This can be done as a fun competitive challenge to see which Cadet raises the most sponsorships!

A template script that could be used for this type of challenge is:

{Join our <<INSERT Group Name>> in saying THANK YOU to our American Heroes by sponsoring a veteran’s wreath! We will be placing your sponsored wreath on the grave of one of our hometown heroes at <<INSERT CEMETERY NAME>> on National Wreaths Across America Day, this December 19th.

We are on a mission to REMEMBER the fallen, HONOR those who serve, and TEACH future generations about the value of freedom. We are the home of the free, because of the brave!
Help us get others involved by sharing your support and challenging your own family, friends and community to support the mission!
