Employer Matching
Double Your Impact with Matching Gifts
Thousands of companies nationwide match their employees’ charitable donations and, in some cases, volunteer service hours to organizations like Civil Air Patrol.
Your gift to CAP may be doubled, tripled, or even quadrupled by your employer. Civil Air Patrol members, parents, alumni, extended family, friends, and supporters may also be eligible to participate through their employer or retiree matching gift program.

Designating Your Gift to a Wing, Squadron, or Program
When submitting your matching gift request, please include the wing, squadron, or CAP program you would like your gift to support, if applicable.
For questions about when funds will be received by a wing or squadron, please contact your Wing Administrator first. If additional assistance is needed, the Wing Administrator may contact NHQ on your behalf.
When Will My Unit Receive the Funds?
Matching gifts and volunteer grants are often processed through several steps before funds are received by a local unit. Timelines vary depending on the employer and third-party giving platform.
- The donor submits a matching gift or volunteer grant request through their employer.
- The employer reviews and approves the request.
- The employer may transmit the payment directly or through a third-party vendor such as Benevity, YourCause, Truist, CyberGrants, Deed, or a similar platform.
- The third-party vendor processes and sends the payment to CAP National Headquarters.
- NHQ Development reviews and processes the gift.
- NHQ Financial Management processes the funds for transfer to the appropriate wing.
- The Wing Administrator processes the funds for the appropriate squadron or unit, when applicable.
Because employers and vendors may process gifts monthly or quarterly, matching gift payments can take time to arrive. Once funds are received and processed by NHQ, they are typically transferred to the wing, and then routed to the appropriate squadron or unit by the wing.
Best Practices for Members and Units
- Promote the matching gift search tool to members, parents, alumni, friends, and supporters.
- Encourage members to check whether their employer offers matching gifts or volunteer grants.
- Ask members to keep employment information updated in eServices when appropriate.
- Add a link to this page on your wing or squadron website.
- Remind donors to include the wing, squadron, or program designation when submitting their employer request.
- For questions about local receipt of funds, contact your Wing Administrator first.
No additional Wing Commander approval is needed for members or supporters to participate in this program. Matching gifts are managed through CAP’s national matching gift process and are treated similarly to other charitable gifts received in support of CAP.
