Government Relations
Welcome to the official page of the Civil Air Patrol (CAP) Headquarters Government Relations (GVR) Directorate. The directorate is overseen Mr. John "Ike" Fesler, Senior Director of Government Relations (SDGVR). He leads CAP's Washington, D.C. Office team who liaises with Congress, federal agencies, and others, and represents CAP Headquarters in the National Capital Region.
The D.C. Office is responsible to leadership for promoting and defending CAP's annual budget request by inspiring and equipping teams of volunteers to inform and educate Members of Congress, government offices, and other stakeholders about CAP's mission, programs, and operations, and community impact, through annual briefings, special events, and office visits, and leading its grassroots advocacy. The D.C. Office monitors legislation and important issues that may impact CAP's funding and operations across the nation. It also provides training and resources to leadership and volunteers especially cadets interested in government relations.
The D.C. Office serves as a point of contact for CAP government relations for region and wing commanders and their government relations teams, congressional and state legislative staff, and government officials. For assistance, please contact the D.C. Office via email.
