182T Standby Battery Preflight Check

February 22, 2010

Recently, Cessna revised the standby battery preflight test from 20 to 10 seconds on 182T aircraft equipped with a Garmin Auto Pilot. We inquired of Cessna concerning the same revision to 182T aircraft equipped with a Honeywell Auto Pilot. Cessna stated it did not revise the procedure for Honeywell Auto Pilot equipped aircraft due to this being a single revision and it was not cost effective to change the POHs for one item. However, Cessna agreed to send NHQ/LGM a letter authorizing Civil Air Patrol to use the 10 second standby battery check for all CAP 182T aircraft equipped with a Honeywell Autopilot. Please call if you have any questions concerning this issue.
