Artex 406 ELT Nav Interface Issue

November 17, 2009

We have become aware that some of our early 182T NAV III G1000 model aircraft may not have the 406 ELT Nav Interface connected to the aircraft's GPS. These models include all our 2005, 2006 and early 2007 G1000 182Ts that were delivered prior to June 2007. This condition can be verified simply by running the ELT transmitter test outlined in the installation manual. A series of five flashes on the ELT indicator light indicates the nav interface is not connected. NOTE: This test should only be conducted during the first five minutes of the hour.

NHQ/LGM recommends the above aircraft have this test conducted by an avionics shop at the aircraft's next scheduled inspection or as soon as it is convenient to have it scheduled. If your aircraft indicates the nav interface is not connected contact NHQ/LGM and we will provide the shop an information bulletin containing instructions to connect the nav interface to the GPS. Negative findings are also requested. Please call if you have any questions or concerns.
