  • 19 Dec 05 - Cessna Service Bulletin, SB05-71-02, Title:  Engine Cylinder Drain System Inspection.

Reason:  To do an inspection of the existing engine cylinder drain system and if necessary, modify the configuration.

  • 15 Dec 05 - Cessna Service Bulletin, SB05-22-01, Title: Trim Servo Cable Chain Inspection.

Reason:  It has been determined that some trim servo cable assemblies may not have the pins correctly peened in the chain links that secure the chain terminals to the cable.

  • 8 Nov 05 - Cessna Service Bulletin, SB05-37-01, Title: Vacuum Pump Inspection/Replacement. 

Effectivity:  See SB for serial numbers of affected airplanes. 

NOTE:  Airplanes equipped with the Garmin G1000 Nav III Avionics option are NOT affected. 

Reason:  To transmit Tempest Mandatory Service Bulletin Number SB-003:  Vacuum Pump Replacement. 

Compliance:  Mandatory; shall be accomplished within the next 50 hours of operation or 60 days, whichever occurs first.  Do not conduct flight in Instrument Flight Rule meteorological conditions or at night until an affected pump is removed and replaced with a non-affected pump.

  • 21 Nov 05 - Cessna Service Bulletin, SB05-34-10, Title: Aft Avionics and Electrical Wire Bundle Inspection. 

Effectivity:  See SB for serial #s.

Reason:  Recent field reports indicated that the avionics and electrical wire bundle can become chafed because of contact with the aft avionics shelf structure.

Compliance:  Mandatory; shall be accomplished at the next scheduled inspection not to exceed the next 50 hours of operation, whichever occurs first.

Cessna Service Bulletin SEB 95-3, Revision 1, Flap Support Inspection and Roller Washer Installation

21 Nov 05 - Cessna Service Bulletin, SB05-34-11, Title: Garmin GIA 63 Integrated Avionics Unit Outside Cover Replacement.

Reason:  To transmit Garmin Service Bulletin No. 0522, Revision B: GIA 63 Outside Covers

  • 18 Nov 05 - Gippsland Service Bulletin, SB-GA8-2005-24: Alternator Cooling System Upgrade. 

Applicability:  All GA8 serial numbers up to S/N GA8-05-076 except serial numbers GA8-03-030, GA8-04-058, GA8-04-066, and GA8-05-074.  

Background:  Some operators of aircraft that utilize a high proportion of electrical equipment have reported high alternator temperatures during start up and ground operations.  This service bulletin introduces a combined alternator pulley/fan and ducting to improve alternator cooling. 

Compliance:  Mandatory - to be complied with at the next periodic inspection after 31 January 2006.


  • 4 Nov 05 - Cessna Service Bulletin, SEB05-5:  McCauley Propeller Hub Inspection. 

Effectivity.  See SB for serial #s.  It appears to only effect several of CAP's 206 a/c. 

Purpose:  To transmit McCauley Alert Service Bulletin ASB251A:  Hubs Manufactured With Improper Retention Threads.  According to McCauley, "A total of 40 threaded retention constant speed and feathering hubs have been manufactured with improperly machined socket retention threads.  The condition can cause concentrated loading on the threads that could result in hub cracking and blade separation."

Compliance:  Mandatory: shall be accomplished within the next 10 hours of operation as described in McCauley Alert Service Bulletin ASB251A (or latest revision). 

Note:  The hubs were delivered in 2004 and 2005.

  • 24 Oct 05 - Cessna Service Bulletin, SB04-25-02, Revision 1:  Crew Seat Back Cylinder Lock Installation Modification

Effectivity:  172R - T206H models.  See SB for serial numbers

Reason:  Reports have been received of the crew seat back cylinder lock failing at the aft end area.

Compliance:  Mandatory: shall be accomplished with in the next 50 hours of operation or at the next scheduled inspection, whichever occurs first.

  • 21 Oct 05 - Maule Service Letter No. 67:  Micro AeroDynamics Vortex Generator System Placard and AFM Supplement. 

Aircraft effected:  All Maule Models equipped with Votex Generators manufactured betwen Mar 97-Oct 05. 

Status:  To provide a caution for the pilot concerning any damaged or missing Votex Generators.


  • 10 Oct 05 - Cessna Service Bulletin SB05-57-01: Wing Trailing Edge Rib Inspection

Effectivity:  See SB for serial numbers

Reason:  IT has been determined that some of the wing trailing edge ribs may be cracked in the radius between the rib flanges and web.

Description:  The specified left and right wing trailing edge ribs shall be inspected for cracks and if necessary, repaired as described in this SB.  Non-compliance with this SB may result in less than the designed structural integrity of the affected wing rib.

Compliance:  Mandatory: shall be accomplished within the next 100 hours of operation or 12 months, whichever occurs first.

  • 10 Oct 05 - Cessna Service Bulletin SB01-73-01, Revision 1, Engine Driven Fuel Pump Inspection. 

Reason for Revision:  to transmit Lycoming Mandatory Service Bulletin No. 548A.  Lycoming SB adds additional a/c serial numbers.  Additional 172S, 182T and 206H model a/c are affected.  See the SB for additional serial numbers.


  • 26 Sep 05 - Cessna Service Bulletin SB05-34-07: Garmin G1000 Obstacle and Terrain Avoidance System Database Update. 

Effectivity:  See SB for serial numbers. 

Reason:  To Transmit Garmin SB No. 0525:  G1000 Obstacle and Terrain Update for Cessna Nav III Aircraft. 

Description:  Garmin Sb No. 0525 announces and availability of a new Obstacle and updated Terrain Database and provides information on how to update the current G1000 Terrain database card from a part number 010-00330-40 or an existing part number 010-00330-41 to a revised part number 010-00330-41.  Also provides corrected terrain information per Garmin Service Alert 050606-00 and updates both Garmin Terrain SD Loader Cards to the most current Terrain Database versions.

Compliance:  Mandatory. shall be accomplished within the next 100 hours of operation or 12 months, whichever occurs first.

Credit Information:  A labor allowance credit 0.5 man-hour per airplane will be provided to accomplish this SB.

  • 12 Sep 05 - Cessna Service Bulletin SB05-53-02, Title: Tunnel Bulkhead Rivet Inspection

Reason:  It has been determined that some airplanes may have been delivered with up to four rivets missing from the tunnel bulkhead.

  • 31 Aug 05 - Lycoming Service Bulletin No. 548A (Supersedes SB No. 548): Subject: Diaphragn-Type Fuel Pump Inspection/Replacement. 

See SB for models affected. 

Time of Compliance:  Compliance is required within 180 calendar days from the date of this SB, or as specified below, whichever occur first.

  1.  Inspect within 50 hours of operation.

  2.  In affected, replace within 100 hours of operation or earlier at owner's discretion.

NOTE:  Prior compliance with SB No. 548 does NOT preclude compliance with this SB.


  • 29 Aug 05 - Cessna Service Bulletin:  Pilot's Operating Handbook Temporary Revision 2.

  • 23 Aug 05 - Gippsland Aeronautics Service Bulletin, SB-GA8-2005-25: Subject:  Remarking of airspeed indicator white and green arcs. 

Applicability: All GA8 aircraft up to serial number GA8-05-075. 

Compliance:  MANDATORY - to be completed at or before the next scheduled periodic inspection.


  • 23 Aug 05 - Gippsland Aeronautics Service Bulletin, SB-GA8-2004-15: Subject: Replacement of the alternate air door microswitch with a contactless proximity switch. 

Applicability: GA aircraft S/N GA8-00-004 to GA8-05-065. 

Compliance: The proximity switch is required to be fitted to aircraft during the next periodic inspection after the 1 November 2005.


  • 29 Jul 05 - Cessna Service Bulletin SB05-34-06: Garmin G1000 GDL-69A Weather and Digital Audio Entertainment Interface Installation. 

Effectivity:  See SB for applicable serial # of a/c. 

Reason:  To provide Garmin G1000 GDL-69A Weather and Digital Audio Entertainment Interface system installation. 

Description:  The Garmin G1000 GDL-69A is a remote sensor that is cable of receiving XM Satellite Weather and displaying it on the G1000 Multi Function Display and the Primary Flight Display Inset Map.  The GDL 69A is also capable of receiving XM Satellite Radio Services.

  • 29 Jul 05 - Cessna Service Bulletin SB05-34-05:  Garmin G1000 System Software Upgrade. 

Effectivity:  See SB for applicable serial # of a/c. 

Reason:  To provide a software upgrade for the Garmin G1000 System.

CREDIT EXPIRATION DATE: 29 July 2005


  • 29 Jul 05 - Cessna Service Bulletin SB05-11-02: Pilot's Operating Handbook Revisions. 

Effectivity:  See SB for serial numbers of applicable aircraft equipped with the Garmin G1000 Nav III Avionics Option.  This SB does apply to all 182T model a/c received in CY2005 by CAP. 

Compliance:  Mandatory; the revisions shall be reviewed and incoporated as soon as possible, but no later than the next 100 hours of operation or 4 months, whichever occurs first.  NOTE:  It is recommended that this SB be accomplished prior to or concurrently with Cessna SB05-34-05 (Garmin G1000 System Software Update) and SB05-34-06 (Garmin G1000 GDL-69A Weather and Digital Audio Entertainment Interface Installation).


  • 11 Jul 05 - Lycoming Service Bulletin (SB) No. 566, Crankshaft Replacement in Lycoming Engines. 

Models Affected:  Any Lycoming engine model specified below manufactured, rebuilt, overhauled or repaired after March 1, 1999:
  - Lycoming O-540, IO-54, AEIO-540 and TIO-540 engines rated at 290 horsepower or repaired in Section 1 and listed in Table 1.
  - Lycoming IO-540-P, -2, -AA engines rated at 250-290 horsepower by Lycoming as described in Section 2 and listed in Table 2.
  - Lycoming IO-540 and AEIO-540 engines rated at 300 horsepower as described in Section 2 and listed in Table 2.
  - Lycoming counterweighted (L)O-360, (L)IO-360 and AEIO-360 engines rated at any horsepower as described in Section 3 and listed in Table 3.

Lycoming crankshafts with a crankshaft serial number listed in Table 4 shipped as a spare after March 1, 1999.  These crankshafts may be installed in any of the engine models listed above.

NOTE:  Engines that have complied with SB No. 552 or SB No. 553 are not affected by this SB.

TIME OF COMPLIANCE: Within next 50 hours of operation or 6 months from the date of this SB, whichever occurs first.

This SB appears to only apply to N127CP, N102CP, N128CP, and N6006C.  However, the SB needs to be reviewed to make sure none of your Wing a/c are affected.

  • 14 Jun 05 - Maule Service Bulletin No. 26, Swing out Windows: 

This mandatory Service Bulletin is prompted by a report from an owner that upon landing the swing out window fell out of the front door frame.  After inspecting the isntallation it was determined that the holes for attaching rivets for securing the piano hinge to top door frame were being drilled too high (on center) through the window frame.  The resultant loss of a window could cause a serious problem in flight. 

COMPLIANCE:  Immediate compliance is required.


  • 20 Jun 05 - Cessna Service Bulletin, SB04-55-01, Revision 1: Horizontal Stabilizer Atach Bolt Holes Inspection. 

Effectivity: 172R and 172S model.  See SB for serial #. 

COMPLIANCE:  Mandatory; shall be accomplished within the next 100 hours of operation or annual inspection, whichever occurs first. 

NOTE:  Compliance with SB04-55-01, Revision 1, is not required if cracks were not found in the 0532001-99 ribs on the SB04-55-1 original inspection or if a cracked 0532001-99 rib has been replaced.

CREDIT EXPIRATION DATE: 20 December 2005


  • 21 Feb 05 - Lycoming Service Bulletin, No. 565: Diaphragm-Type Fuel Pump Inspection/Replacement. 

Models Affected:  New, rebuilt and overhauled engines shipped from Lycoming between October 1, 2001 and February 2, 2004 with fuel pump P/N LW-15473.  Engine models affected are IO-320, -360, -540; AIO-320, -360; AEIO-320, -360, -540; HIO-360; TO-360-C1A6D, -F1A6D and O-540-L3C5D.  Fuel pumps replaced in the field with a genuine Lycoming fuel pump after October 1, 2001 and up to the date of issuance of this SB. 

TIME OF COMPLIANCE:  Next 25 hours or next oil change whichever occurs first, or earlier at owner's discretion. 

NOTE:  If you Lycoming engine has a diaphragm-type fuel pump with Lycoming P/N LW-15473 installed, and has a data code of 3201, the pump must be replaced prior to next flight.  If replacement is required, reimbursement is available for a replacement fuel pump and for up to 1.5 hours of labor through a Lycoming Distributor.  Lycoming requires the replaced pump be returned with a valid warranty claim for warranty consideration.  Warranty for pump replacement will be in effect for one year from the date of this SB.  See SB for further information.


  • 31 Jan 05 - Cessna Service Bulletin, SB05-24-01: MC01-3A Main Electrical Power Junction Box Circuit Breakers Inspection. 

See SB for affected a/c. 

Reason: It has been determined that some part number S3100-297 (MC01-3A.I.C.9) or S3100-344 (MC01-3A I.C. 10) main power junction boxes may have incorrect amperage circuit breakers installed in place of the required 40 amp circuit breakers.

Compliance:
Mandatory: shall be accomplished within the next 50 hours of operation or 30 days, whichever occurs first. 

NOTE:  Airplane operations are limited to Day/VFR flight only until compliance with this SB.

  • 17 Jan 05 - Cessna Service Bulletin, SB05-28-01: Fuel Strainer Gasket Inspection.

Also affected are white colored part number 0756041-1 replacement fuel strainer gaskets in Service Station stock that was shipped from Cessna Parts Distribution between January 22, 2004 and October 15, 2004.

Reason: It has been determined that some fuel strainer gaskets may have been made from incorrect material.

Description:  The 0756041-1 fuel strainer gasket shall be inspected and if necessary replaced as described in the SB.  Non-compliance with this SB could allow an improperly made fuel strainer gasket to swell or deform.

Compliance:  Mandatory; shall be accomplished at the next annual/12 month inspection or 100 hour inspection not to exceed 100 hours of operation.
