DIRECTOR, CHAPLAIN CORPS EMERGENCY SERVICES SCHOOL (ChESS)

This three-year position calls for leadership of the training staff of the premiere Emergency Services training process for CAP Chaplain Corps personnel, Chaplains and Character Development Instructors alike, to be trained and prepared to give spiritual support and pastoral care to all levels of CAP missions at both the CAP mission activity level, to large-scale, long-term, real-world emergency situations and scenarios. This billet is an additional duty assignment on the staff of the Chief of Education & Training for the Chaplain Corps (HCE), working within the National Emergency Services Academy (NESA).

The person seeking this position is required to meet or exceed the following requirements:

The ideal candidate must be a duly qualified and appointed Chaplain (non-waivered) in the CAP Chaplain Corps for at least ten consecutive years.

• Must possess a Master rating in Chaplaincy in the 221 Specialty Track

• Must possess their Level 5 status in CAP

• Completed the Cadet Programs RST Online/in-person Modules

• Completed the Cadet Protection Basic and Advanced Courses

• Completed the ORM Basic and Intermediate Courses

• Completed the CAP GES 116

• Completed the CAPT 117, Parts 1, 2, and 3

• Completed I-CUT online and in-person modules

• Complete the qualifications to be SET qualified for Chaplaincy training activity.

• Must have completed the following FEMA Courses: IS 100, 200, 368, 405, 505, 700, and 800.

• Completed the ChESS Basic and Advanced Level Courses, and possess the MC-CS and MC-DS Ratings.

• Served as a CAP Chaplain at the Wing and/or Region levels to show a depth of understanding of and leadership skills for the work of chaplaincy.

• Have a minimum of five (5) years of Disaster Management and Training experience.

• Have a proven history of experience in the areas of Emergency Service, Disaster Response, and providing Spiritual Support and Pastoral Care for both CAP level mission activities (Encampments, SAREXs, etc.) and real-world, large-scale, long-term, mass casualty missions.

• Have proven experience developing, implementing, and managing a training program similar to ChESS

• Be able to initiate coordination with the CAP National Emergency Services Academy (NESA) and the Incident Command System School (ICSS) for all phases of the operational function of ChESS during the NESA training season.

• Function successfully and adhere to the necessary requirements as a part of the NESA-MTT (Mobile Training Team) program.

• Must be capable of teaching and developing all phases and types of Emergency Services-related courses and disciplines, with teaching experience at the university, high school, or military levels.

• Must be willing and able to sacrifice the time, energy and personal funds necessary to drive this program to the utmost productivity level for its designed purpose.
