CAP Safety Spotlight

July 2021

This month's Safety Spotlight includes the following most common trends noted from 2018 - 2020 during the month of July

Non-Aircraft Vehicle

  • Door damage (opening during high winds)
  • Parking-related damage (backing into vehicles or other objects, overnight parking damage)


  • Striking stationary objects (fences, ladders used for refueling, taxiway lights, etc.)
  • Tail strikes on landing (due to excessive flare height and pitch) 
  • Hangar-related damage (wing tip, navigation lights, etc.)


  • Tripping, Falling, Running (knee, arm, and ankle injuries)
  • Heat-related illnesses (dehydration, nausea, loss of consciousness)
