Senior Member Scholarship Opportunities

Welcome to the CAP Senior Member Scholarship Program

We are excited to offer a range of scholarship opportunities to support the educational and professional development of our members. Our scholarships are designed to provide financial assistance for various types of training and higher education pursuits. Below, you will find detailed information about the scholarships currently available. 

The scholarship application period for 2026 is Open!

This year we are changing up the application process a bit. Instead of three separate application periods, all senior member scholarships will run concurrently. The applications for each of the available scholarships are linked below.

Current Scholarships

1. The Cooper Scholarship

The Cooper Scholarship is designed to subsidize the cost of CAP Senior Member training and/or education. Funding has a primary focus on funding activities relevant to CAP service, which may include (but is not limited to) NESA, Chaplain/IG/AEO Schools and Colleges, TLC, UCC, FEMA, Aircrew Schools, courses to acquire mission related skill/certifications or other training leading to a rating/certification. With a secondary preference of recipient attending college/university/graduate schools/seminar, trade schools, certification/licensing program.

2. The Col Carolyn Guertin Scholarship

This scholarship is specifically available for those in need within the Civil Air Patrol or their families. It aims to provide financial assistance to ensure that all members and their families have the opportunity to pursue their educational goals.

3. The Dr. Mark Kukucka Scholarship

The Dr. Mark Kukucka Scholarship supports Civil Air Patrol members aspiring to pursue master’s or doctorate level studies at accredited institutions of higher learning. Eligible recipients include organization cadets or current CAP senior members. Special consideration will be granted for former cadets of the Maryland wing who can document their status. Recipients of this scholarship will be recognized as “Kukucka Scholars” and may apply for multiple funding cycles.
