2025 National AEO School

The 22nd Annual CAP National Aerospace Education Officers School

The National Civil Air Patrol AE team is pleased to announce the 22nd annual CAP National Aerospace Education Officers School to be conducted Tuesday, June 24, through Friday, June 27, at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, Ohio. The 2025 theme is Empowering Excellence: Mastering Skills and Navigating Resources for Success.

Presentations on AEO duties and responsibilities, AE programs and products, as well as engaging activities, networking, mentorship opportunities, and practical workshops will be included in the agenda. A detailed agenda will be provided to participants at a later date.

National AEO School is exclusively available for Aerospace Education Officers (AEOs) at any level.

AEOs should plan to arrive on Monday, June 23, and plan to depart the late afternoon of Friday, June 27, or Saturday, June 28. To receive AEO School credit, AEOs should attend all sessions.

For those unable to attend in person, a self-paced virtual AEO School will be available for credit in ABSORB late summer.

Registration Overview

Registration opens at 8 a.m. (CDT) March 19 and continues through March 31 via Registration Zone in eServices. See below (Registration and Selection Process) for more information.

For those selected to attend, the AEO School Registration Fee will be $130.

Registration fee includes:

  • Breakfast buffet at the host hotel for attendees staying at the hotel

  • All course materials

  • Monday, June 23 - Meet and Greet Social (optional)

  • Thursday, June 26 - Ice Cream Social at the USO located on Wright-Patterson AFB - families welcome! (Optional)

  • Friday, June 27- Trip to the National Museum of the United States Air Force

Registration and Selection Process:

From March 19 through March 31, any AEO at any level who is interested in applying to attend the 2025 National AEO School will need to complete the online application in Registration Zone located in eServices. This will be the first of four stages in the registration process, all of which are described below:

Stage 1: Registration for Alternate (Preliminary) Attendee List

Registration Zone will be open from March 19 through March 31 for the AEO School Alternate Attendee applications. After completing and submitting the online application in Registration Zone, AEOs will receive an automated email confirming placement on the Alternate Attendee list.

On the application form found in Registration Zone, AEOs should be prepared to answer questions about time and experiences in CAP. These questions will assist the AE team in the selection process.

Each question on the form will help the team build an audience of participants from various ratings. Criteria for participating is built on a variety of experiences and tenure.

Additionally, the following data from eServices will be evaluated:

  • Number of National AEO Schools attended

  • Time in CAP

  • Time in Current Rating

  • Time assigned as an AEO/Assistant

Stage 2: Applicant Slotting (Selection) Process

After Registration Zone closes on March 31, the AE team will begin the slotting process for AEO School attendee selection. During the slotting process, the AE team will have access to an AEO's details from eServices, excluding the AEO's name and unit identifier, as well as all information gathered from the application (with CAP ID#s as the only identifier).

Stage 3: Registration Selection

On April 7, all AEOs who applied for AEO School attendance will be notified whether or not they were selected for Stage 3 of the Registration process.

The highest slotted AEOs will receive an e-mail requesting further information to move forward in the registration process.

All other applicants will receive information that they were not selected for attendance this year and will remain on the Alternate List. Alternate AEOs should remain attentive for a possible e-mail to invite them to attend if others decline to accept the invitation to attend AEO School.

Stage 4: Final Registration Completion

AEOs selected to attend the school will be notified by April 7. AEOs selected will need to RSVP by April 18.

  • Registration Fee: $130

  • Hotel Fee: $119 per night + tax
