FAA Airport Design Challenge registration opens Nov. 1
The registration date is approaching for an engineering/aerospace challenge that gives students or cadets an opportunity to design virtual airports in Minecraft based on guidance from FAA experts. The FAA Airport Design Challenge is a seven-week interactive, virtual learning opportunity organized and sponsored by the FAA Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) Aviation and Space Education (AVSED) Program. According to the FAA's website, participating youth "meet aviation professionals, engage with other designers and learn about the aerospace industry." Registration opens Nov. 1 and continues through Nov. 14.
Participants can form teams of up to five members or participate individually. Instructional topics include airport layout, pavement and lighting, structures and innovative growth.
