Aerospace Education Excellence (AEX)

Civil Air Patrol's Aerospace Education Excellence (AEX) Award program recognizes CAP units that actively engage cadets and senior members in exciting aerospace and STEM education activities. For our Aerospace Education Members (AEMs) AEX recognizes teachers and classrooms who have actively engaged their students in AE/STEM. When six engaging lessons and a two-hour field trip, tour, or other experiential activity are completed, each participant and the squadron or classroom receive a certificate. Of most importance is what that certificate signifies: a steady immersion for students into aerospace and STEM topics and careers. What does that look like? Launching rockets, holding community eclipse-viewing events, designing and competing with paper airplanes, simulating a "mission to Mars," and more. Each Aerospace Education Officer (AEO) or AEM determines their AEX experience using CAP lessons, activities from like-minded STEM organizations, and/or their own lessons. For details, click either AEX for Squadrons or AEX for Educators below that matches your member category. Click the Participate button to register and begin your AEX journey.

“The AEX program allowed us to combine the class goals we already had for our homeschool co-op aerospace engineering class with a nationally recognized program. It is difficult to find material for high schoolers with this subject."
