Ages 12 and older

FAA requires TRUST certification for all operators. Read how to get certification HERE.

This kit is currently available for CAP squadrons only*

The VTOL, or vertical take-off and landing aircraft, teaches cadets to vertically take off and land the aircraft. This aircraft has the vertical capabilities of a helicopter with the high-speed function flight performance of an airplane. The automatic transition between helicopter and airplane flight allows cadets to experience smooth flying throughout the flight. The VTOL requires little assembly time so that your cadets can be in the air quickly to enjoy their flight time.

Items included in this kit: Osprey VTOL Aircraft, DX6e 6-channel Transmitter, Smart Charger and 3S LiPo Battery Pack.
This kit is an extension of the Model and Remote-Control STEM Kit; therefore, applicants are encouraged to contact and work with local Academy of Model Aeronautics (AMA) clubs for additional guidance with the kit.  Local AMA club(s) can provide mentorship in learning to fly real remote-controlled airplanes, especially in TAG (Take-off and Grow) programs.

NOTES:

Make sure to read the enclosed manual about handling the batteries safely. After the VTOL kit is received, click HERE to go directly to the FAA Online Recreational Registration site.

Educator members, if your students are interested in working with the VTOL kit, visit or join your local CAP squadron to learn more.  To locate the closest CAP squadron(s), enter your ZIP Code in the “find your local squadron” section of the CAP homepage HERE.

Approved applicants should expect to receive one VTOL STEM Kit.
