New Cadet Kit

Upon joining CAP, new cadets receive a New Cadet Kit containing important resources to get them started. The contents include:

New Cadet Guide
Aerospace Dimensions (Modules 1 and 2)
Learn to Lead, vol. 1
Learn to Lead Cadet Drill Guide
Personal Cadet Tracker, phase 1 & 2
Parents' Guide (Ships separately)

Kits ship via USPS and arrive within 15 days of the cadet officially joining CAP. See the FAQ for more.

Phase II Cadet Kit

Upon earning the Wright Brothers' Award, cadets who have joined since 01 October 2023 will receive a Phase II Cadet Kit containing:

Aerospace Dimensions (Modules 3 - 7)
Learn to Lead, vol. 2
Cadet Staff Handbook

Kits ship via USPS and arrive within 15 days of the cadet officially earning the Wright Brothers' Award. See the FAQ for more.

**Cadets who joined before 01 October 2023 will not receive any of the Aerospace Dimensions books since those were included with their first cadet kit from when they joined.

Phase III & IV Cadet Kit

Upon earning the Billy Mitchell Award, cadets receive their final shipment, the Phase III & IV Cadet Kit containing:

Learn to Lead, vol. 3
Aerospace: The Journey of Flight
Staff Duty Analysis Guide
Personal Cadet Tracker, phase 3 & 4

Kits ship via USPS and arrive within 15 days of the cadet officially earning the Billy Mitchell Award. There is no hard copy kit sent when the cadet earns the Earhart Award. See the FAQ for more.

Earhart Cadets

There is no kit associated with the Earhart Award. Unfortunately, Learn to Lead, vol. 4, is available only via PDF.

Frequently Asked Questions

I haven't received my kit. What do I do?
Kits ship via USPS and should arrive within 15 days of joining CAP or earning a milestone award. Please email us if yours hasn't arrived. Include your name, CAPID, the address the package should ship to, and your phone number. We'll send you a replacement kit right away.

What if I lose my New Cadet Packet and need a new one?
You may purchase a packet from CAP’s vendor, Vanguard, at www.civilairpatrolstore.com.

Are any of these materials available for free online?
All of the cadet textbooks and other materials are available online in the Library.

How can our squadron get a copy of the New Member Kit or the other kits?
You may purchase a kit from Vanguard, or download the materials for free, as explained above.
