  • 11 Oct 04 - Cessna Service Bulletin, SB04-73-02: Engine Fuel Manifold Spring Replacement.

NOTE: This SB supersedes SB99-73-01 and SB99-73-01 Revision 1.

Reason: To transmit Lycoming Service Instruction No. 1489B:  Fuel Manifold Spring Change, which provides for replacement of the existing engine fuel manifold flow divider spring with a new spring designed to enhance engine idel characteristics during ground operations, especially in hot weather.

  • 11 Oct 04 - Cessna Service Bulletin, SB04-53-03: Forward Door Post Bulkhead Washer Inspection.

Reason: It has been determined that some airplanes may have been delivered without washers installed under the nut of the forward door post attach bolts.

Description: The forward door post attach bolts shall be inspected to determine if the specified washers are installed.  If necessary, the washers shall be installed as described in this Service Bulletin.  Non-compliance with this Service Bulletin could result in less than the designed structural integrity of the forward door post attachment area.

Compliance:  Mandatory: shall be accomplished at the next 100 hour/annual type hour inspection or 12 months, whichever occurs first.

  • 11 Oct 04 - Cessna Service Bulletin, SB04-25-04: Crew Seat Back Cylinder Lock Control Inspection/Adjustment.

Description: The crew seat back controls shall be inspected and adjusted as described in this Service Bulletin.  Non-compliance with this SB could allow an incorrectly adjusted seat back control to go undetected which could allow a crew seat back to recline unexpectedly.

Compliance:  Mandatory: shall be accomplished within the next 100 hours of operation or 12 months, whichever occurs first.

  •  11 Oct 04 - Cessna Service Bulletin, SB04-27, Revision 1, Elevator Trim Tab Control Cable Inspection. 

To add a clarification statement to the Effectivity section which excludes airplanes equipped with a 2-axis autopilot.

  • 13 Sep 04 - Cessna Service Bulletin, SEB04-4: Fuel Hose Inspection. 

Purpose:  It has been determined that an unapproved fuel hose may have been installed on some in-service airplanes.  The fuel hoses shall be inspected, and if necessary replaced as described in this SB.  Non-compliance with this SB may potentially allow a fuel leak to occur.

Compliance: Mandatory; shall be accomplished at the next 100 hour inspection or annual/12 month inspection, whichever occurs first.

NOTE:  NHQ/LGM recommends all hoses be replaced and we will pay for both parts and labor.


  • 13 Sep 04 - Cessna Service Bulletin, SEB04-3:  Magneto Capacitor Inspection. 

Purpose: To transmit Teledyne Continental Motors Critical Service Bulletin CSB 04-5A and Teledyne Continental Motors Ignition System Critical Service Bulletin CSB 665A.  See below, 23 Jul 04.  CSB 665A was mailed to the Maintenance Officers on 26 Jul 04.  Click here for both CSB's


  • 30 Aug 04 - Cessna Service Bulletin, SB04-73-01: Engine Fuel Injection Lines and Support Clamps Inspection.

Reason:  To transmit Lycoming Mandatory Service Bulletin No. 342E which requires a repetitive inspection of fuel lines and clamps between the engine fuel injector manifold and fuel nozzles.

NOTE:  This SB supersedes SB00-73-01, SB00-73-01 Revision 1 and SB00-73-01 Revision 2.


  • 30 Aug 04 - Cessna Service Bulletin, SB04-53-02: Firewall Doubler Flange Modification and Shock Mount Inspection. 

Reason:  To modify the lower firewall doubler to ensure clearance between the doubler and lower cowling shock mount.

Description:  The lower firewall doubler shall be modified and the shock mounts shall be inspected as detailed in this SB.  Non-compliance with SB04-53-02 could result in damage and or failure of the lower engine cowling shock mounts.

Compliance:  Mandatory: shall be accomplished within the next 100 hours of operation or 12 months, whichever occurs first.

  • 30 Aug 04 - Cessna Service Bulletin, SB04-11-02:  Pilot's Operating Handbook Revision. 

A revision to the Pilot's Operating Handbook is being issued to provide the following information:  Added airplanes incorporating MK172-28-01 to the fuel return system description and schematic in Section 7. 

Compliance:  Mandatory; the revision shall be reviewed and incorporated as soon as possible, but no later than the next 100 hours of operation or 4 months; whichever occurs first.


  • 19 Jul 04 - Cessna Service Bulletin, SB04-25-03:  Passenger Bench Seat Bolt Installation. 

It has been determined that some airplanes may have been delivered without two required bolts for the passenger bench seat.  Below are the models affected:

  • 28 Jul 04 - McFarlane Service Bulletin, SB-4: 

This service bulletin describes a swage cracking problem in McFarlane Part Number MC600-72 and MC600-120 vernier mixture controls and requires removal and replacement of controls with an affected lot number.  Non compliance could result in loss of mixture control authority and subsequent loss of engine power.

  • 23 Jul 04 - Teledyne Continental Ignition Systems Critical Service Bulletin, CSB 665.  Magneto Capacitor P/N 10-400615 Inspection and Replacement. 

Purpose:  TCM has identified a quantity of magneto capacitors part number 10-400615 which may have ground stud (also referred to as the P-Lead stud) threads that do not meet specification.  This may allow the ground wire (P-Lead) to come loose, resulting in a hot magneto.  See SB tables for affected parts.
 
Compliance:  On receipt of this Critical Service Bulletin.  Make certain that no one is allowed to move the propeller on an engine suspected of containing an affected capacitor.  This could result in an engine start.


  • 19 Jul 04 - Maule Service Bulletin No. 23, Tailpipe Clamp No. 5072B. 

This SB is cautionary regarding possible separation of the exhaust tailpipe from the muffler.  Concerns are overheating of firewall components and fire. 

Compliance:  Initial compliance withe SB is recommended within the next 10 hours of flight if total time is 50 hours or greater.


  • 19 Jul 04 - Maule Service Bulletin No. 24, Brake Cylinder Brackets: 

This SB is cautionary regarding possible cracking of the brackets welded on to the fuselage frame which support the brake cylinders.  These brackets are located in line with, just foward of, and below the rudder pedals. 

Compliance:  Initial compliance witht his SB is recommended within the next 25 hours of flight if total time is 50 hours or greater.  Immediate compliance is required for the cylinders in use after any incident requiring extremely hard braking.  Subsequent inspections should be part of the 100 hour or annual inspections.
 


  • 22 Jun 04 - Cessna SB04-25-02, Crew Seat Back Cylinder Lock Inspection and Crank Arm Modification.

Reason: Reports have been received of the crew seat back cylinder lock being bent at the aft end area.
 
Compliance:  Mandatory: shall be accomplished within the next 50 hours of operation or at the next scheduled inspection, whichever occurs first.  The cylinder lock inspection shall be repeated every 50 hours of operation after the initial inspection.
 
CREDIT EXPIRATION DATE: 14 June 2005


  • 22 Jun 04 - Cessna SB04-25-01, Crew Seat Recline Modification, HAS BEEN SUSPENDED and Modification Kit MK172-25-07 should not be installed until further notice via SB04-25-01 Revision 2.

  • 18 May 04 - Lycoming Service Bulletin No. 342E (Supersedes Service Bulletin No. 342D):  Stainless Steel Fuel Line and Support Clamps Inspection. 

Effectivity:  All fuel injected Lycoming engine indicated in fuel line and clamping diagrams (see SB). 

Compliance:  Check every 100 hours, annual inspection, overhaul and any time fuel lines or clamps are serviced, removed, or replaced.
