Celebrate the Apollo 11 50th Anniversary

July 15, 2019

We celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the Apollo 11 mission, which included  the first steps on the Moon.  On the morning of July 16, 1969, Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin and Michael Collins launched aboard a Saturn V rocket. Four days later, July 20, 1969, Neil Armstrong took the historic first steps. As the 50th anniversary approaches this week, the nation celebrates with special events. For Civil Air Patrol Aerospace Education Officers (AEOs) and educator members (AEMs), there is an opportunity to win a grant of $300 or $200 with the Civil Air Patrol Challenge.  Re-enact the Moon landing in a Facebook video (to compete for the grant), launch rockets and lead your cadet or student learners in a Moon-themed lesson. Find out more about the challenge and how Civil Air Patrol is celebrating here. Learn about events nationwide here.

Happy Anniversary!
