The votes of Civil Air Patrol volunteers and friends carried CAP to a third-place finish and $6,000 in the Lightspeed Aviation Foundation's Pilots Choice Awards. The annual Pilots Choice program awards cash grants of up to $10,000 to aviation charities after a months-long online voting contest. Read more.
The Civil Air Patrol grant will help CAP and presenting sponsor Air Force Association provide the Aerospace Connections in Education (ACE) Program to K-6 students. The ACE program was developed to provide engaging and meaningful cross-curricular aerospace lessons that support science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) initiatives. ACE registration for the 2015-16 School Year is currently ongoing.
For teachers interested in becoming an ACE Teacher, it's a two-step process.
1. Join as an educator member.
2. Then register with the ACE Program online through Civil Air Patrol's eServices.
ACE materials, including lesson plans and hands-on curriculum materials, are grade-specific. Read more about the program here.
