Registration Deadline Nears For The American Rocketry Challenge

November 13, 2019

The registration deadline is approaching for the American Rocketry Challenge 2020, the world's largest rocket contest with almost 5,000 students. Deadline for registration in the national contest is Dec. 1. The Aerospace Industries Association (AIA), the National Association of Rocketry (NAR) and more than 20 aerospace industry partners sponsor the contest.

In this year's contest, the 18th year, teams with 3 to 10 members must build a model rocket that carries one raw hen egg to an altitude of 800 feet, stays airborne for between 40 and 43 seconds and safely returns the rocket to the ground.

The first-place team wins an all-expenses-paid trip to represent the U.S. in the International Rocketry Challenge July 2020 in London to compete against the winning teams from Japan, the United Kingdom and France.

This year, AIA is providing financial support for Title I schools, offering more access to industry mentors for all teams and sharing online resources.
