About the Activity:

What if you could understand the world around you and use that knowledge to solve complex problems, develop new technologies, and even improve lives? At the Engineering and Technology Academy (ETECH) - Middle Tennessee State University, you will step into the world of engineering and technology. Cadets will have a variety of hands-on opportunities including flying in aviation simulators, building a Makerspace facility, and completing a week-long project. Be inspired by engineering and technology experts. Utilize and expand your teamwork and leadership skills while making life-long friends. Cadets will have the opportunity to earn their STEM badge.

Eligibility Requirements:

Note: Cadets enrolled in Cadet Wings are not eligible for national activities until they complete the program or are disenrolled.

Participants:

  • Completed Encampment and credit recorded in eServices at time of application

  • This is a physically active activity, you will be walking 1 to 3 miles per day

  • Wright Brothers Award

Staff:

Cadets:

Must have leadership experience and some presentation skills

 

Senior Members: 

Engineering or science background desirable

How to Apply

Apply in Registration Zone 

Any required documents for your application are listed below and should be uploaded to the Registration Zone application for this activity.

All staff must apply via Registration Zone in eServices, or they will not receive credit for the activity in their records. For staff applicants, you will be contacted to let you know whether or not you have not been selected. Applications will be accepted from 15 December onward.  To be considered for priority placement status, the completed application including supplemental documents must be submitted by 15 January.  In addition, accomplish the following:

Please apply for this activity in Registration Zone in eServices.

Financial Support:

Lift/Top is a needs-based financial assistance program. These programs are designed to offset costs associated with participating in NCSAs. If selected as a Lift/Top recipient, your activity tuition will be paid by NHQ and you have the option to receive up to a $400 travel reimbursement towards transportation to and from the activity. Lift/Top recipients must accept their slot in writing in order to receive this financial support.

CAP Cadet Scholarships: Through the generosity of our supporting donors, some CAP scholarships focus on supporting cadet attendance at NCSAs. Please see the Scholarship page to see the full list of available Activity Scholarships.

How to apply:

  • Applications for both Lift/Top and CAP Scholarships are located in Registration Zone.

  • You must apply for each program for which you wish to be considered.

  • Lift/Top and each CAP Cadet Scholarship have their own individual Registration Zone events, separate from activity applications.

Important:

  • Applying for these financial support programs does not guarantee financial assistance will be offered.

  • Being offered financial assistance is not a guarantee of acceptance into an activity.

  • You must compete for and receive a slot at an activity.

  • You will be notified if you are a recipient of financial aid/scholarship before you are required to accept or decline a slot at an activity.

The deadline to apply for all financial support programs is 15 January at 12pm Central. No late applications will be accepted. 

Graduation Requirements 

  • Actively participate in 80% of the contact hours and not dismissed early for behavior

  • 80% of curriculum verified by completed assignments

  • Activity Director determines course objectives met

Travel

  • Activity Staff will provide transportation between Nashville International Airport (KBNA) and the activity location.

  • Required Staff Training on TBD at TBD
