2017 NCAC Chair/Vice Chair Invitation to Apply

Posted on July 13, 2016 at 12:00 AM by Donna Bass-Maraman

All Qualified Cadets:

All Cadets who have earned the Eaker Award AND who will NOT turn twenty-one (21) years old by September 30, 2017 are invited to apply for the position of National Cadet Advisory Council (NCAC) Chair and/or Vice-Chair. Applicants need NOT be appointed as incoming Regional Representatives to the NCAC.

Interim Change 52-16, Section 7-4b: “The CAC term runs concurrent with CAP’s fiscal year, 1 October through 30 September.”  Restated, the 2015-2016 council will serve until 30 September and the FY17 council will begin on 1 October 2016.

Procedure: Submit the three (3) items listed below to the NCAC Senior Advisor, Lt Col James Scott, at scottcop1@msn.com AND to the Assistant Senior Advisor, Capt Mia Ottesen at fiveottesens@gmail.com, no later than Friday, July 29, 2016.

(1)  a resume of your CAP academic and community service accomplishments
(2)  a statement describing your vision for the NCAC 2016-17 term
(3)  a letter of recommendation from anyone other than a relative (optional)

Prior experience on the NCAC is highly desired but NOT mandatory.  Unless he/she indicates otherwise, each applicant will automatically be considered for BOTH positions.  The top candidates MAY be interviewed by an electronic video media source or telephone.

The NCAC Chair and Vice-Chair are REQUIRED to attend the National Board Meetings in Washington, D.C. in March 2017 and in San Antonio, Texas in August 2017. National Headquarters will pay for certain fees associated with council member travel, typically airfare and lodging if funds are available.

National Headquarters will coordinate with the affected Wing and Region Commanders before offering a position to a cadet.

The National Commander will make the final selection.  We anticipate this will happen on or about Friday, August 5, 2016.

Sincerely,

LT COL JAMES D. SCOTT, JR., CAP

Senior Advisor NCAC

CAPT M. MIA OTTESEN, CAP

Asst Senior Advisor NCAC
