Cadet Staff Handbook - 2016

We’ve made a few revisions to the Cadet Staff Handbook and have some minor news to share. The handbook remains your source for information about leadership feedback meetings, staff design principles, job descriptions, organizational charts, and more. In fact, roughly 95% of the content from the popular 2012 edition has not changed. What’s different is:
- the publication is now designated CAPP 60-31 (vs. CAPP 52-15, previously)
- section 2.4, on planning squadron meetings, now centers upon the optional Squadron Weekly Meeting Planner
- the cadet deputy commander and executive officer titles are updated to more closely follow current USAF terminology
- references to cadet publications like CAPR 52-16 and Form 50s, use the new numerical designations for those documents
There are two main reasons for our making these changes. First, our hard copy inventory was close to zero, and when we reprint, we buy a year’s supply, so the economics affects the timing. Second, because a publication reengineering project is underway CAP-wide, the handbook’s pamphlet number would have to change soon, so it made sense to take care of that now.
What does this mean to you? Probably not very much, but if you read the Cadet Blog, we think that means you’re the type of person who likes to stay in the know as much as possible. You’ll soon see cadet NCOs toting the new pamphlet around, so we wanted to explain what’s going on. Again, 95% of the content is the same . . . no significant changes.
Cadets receive the Cadet Staff Handbook with their Phase II Cadet Kit, upon earning the Wright Brothers Award. Unfortunately, we cannot provide hard copies except through the Cadet Kit program.
For more about how cadet publications will be renumbered to fulfill the CAP-wide publication reengineering project’s goals, please see our blog post.
