New Deputy Director of Cadet Programs

Christopher Guarniere joins the Civil Air Patrol as the Deputy Director of Cadet Programs, bringing over 21 years of nonprofit leadership experience. He has worked directly in Connecticut, Ohio, upstate New York, New York City, and New Jersey, while also supporting national youth initiatives around safety and camping as part of organizational taskforces. With a strong background in youth safety, risk management, and the lifecycle of camps and activities, Chris supports CAP’s Cadet Programs by ensuring alignment with best practices in youth development and safety.
Prior to joining the Civil Air Patrol, Chris served as Deputy Scout Executive and Director of Safety and Experiences for the Greater New York Councils, Boy Scouts of America. In this role, he was responsible for overseeing the delivery of Scouting programs to thousands of youth across New York City. His leadership helped to strengthen membership growth, program development, and community engagement, solidifying the council’s position as a leader in urban youth development.
In his current role, Chris manages the cadet programs’ finances and works closely with both staff and volunteers on the delivery of key initiatives. He supports the cadet activities program manager, cadet aviation and Wings program manager, and plays a crucial role in strategic planning and project management for the entire cadet program team. His strengths in volunteer relationships and community partnerships ensure that these programs not only meet their educational goals but also foster strong connections within the community.
Chris’s commitment to youth development is reflected in his approach to creating environments where cadets and volunteers can thrive. His deep understanding of program management, youth safety, and camp standards contributes to the ongoing evolution and success of CAP’s cadet initiatives.
Residing in Redding, Connecticut, with his wife Amanda and their three daughters, Chris enjoys traveling, cooking, and reading. His passion for lifelong learning and exploration mirrors his professional dedication to empowering young people and supporting their growth within the Civil Air Patrol.
